Brunetti - Carlton

Brunetti – Carlton

Italian Hot Chocolate with cream

Even though there is no froth on a traditional Italian Hot Chocolate, the cream melts to form a sort of froth which is delicious.

The mix is strong, dark, rich, thick and intense. Everything an Italian hot chocolate should be. Downsides? A small glass, it could be hotter and it’s not as thick as Fraus but you know what? I DON’T CARE!! As it is, it’s absolutely fabulous. I could easily down 4 or 5 of them. It’s also consistent and there is no choc shot. The rich intensity of it is intoxicating.

Summary: Sublime. Brilliant. Almost flawless. A fantastic hot chocolate. With great layers. A creamy froth and intense mix. Ticks all the boxes. One of the best.

Little Blue Cafe/Kiosk - St. Kilda

Little Blue CafĂ©/Kiosk – St. Kilda

Served at a good temperature in a wide mug. The froth is bland, but the mixture is better. It’s a rich milk chocolate flavour like drinking a chocolate bar. If only it were a little thicker it would be great. It has got a slight powdering edge to it which is slightly unpleasant. And that does lead to a sediment shot at the end along with a minor choc shot. Due to the size it is also very filling

Summary: It is fairly nice, but has got those imperfections that a “non-chocolate specific” store would have. Good but not great.
